British Columbia Tribes - Masks and Button Robes

This week is a full week with the students learning about the three main tribes in British Columbia - Kwakiutl, Bellacolla, and Nuu-chah-nulth. We will be learning about their religious traditions and ceremonies and the various art and games the families participated in in each B.C. tribe. The students will also be continuing their work on their button robes. In fact, we are in need of more buttons! If you have anymore buttons you can donate to this project, please give them to either Mr. Dante or myself this week.

In writing, we are continuing our work on narrative stories specifically ways in which to include dialogue and emotion to our written work. In reading, we are focusing on finding dialogue and taking notes on how an author introduces an individual talking and then the transition and introduction of a new individual talking. The students will use these and apply it to their writing this week.

Dante is heading the button blankets project. Therefor, if you are interested in volunteering and coming in to help the students sew this week, please contact him after school.

As always, thank you for all you do.

Mrs. Ingalls
