Clarkia begin recorders

This month Clarkia began learning recorder. Fourth graders (or second year players) refined the notes B, A and G while reviewing the 5 line music staff, notational conventions and proper playing position. Meanwhile, 3rd graders (or first year players) were introduced to these concepts for the first time and began their journey with 4 graders as guides. As the unit continues, second year players will be presented with challenges that include transposition, harmony and the challenge of playing an alto or tenor recorder while first year players will work toward proficiency on the instrument.
